HOW WE WORK
LawSimple operates as a legal consultancy providing "non-reserved" legal services to clients across the UK and Europe.
Companies like ours are (in contrast to regulated law firms) not registered with the Solicitors' Regulation Authority (SRA).
This new business model has been available since the introduction by the SRA of the new STAR reforms in 2019, which were designed (amongst other things) to allow legal professionals to provide services in a more flexible and price competitive way.
The new reforms from 2019 mean that firms like ours which are run by fully qualified lawyers are permitted to provide all kinds of legal services to businesses without being formally registered with the SRA.
There are exceptions to the work that legal consultancies can provide, called "reserved activities". These "reserved activities" are appearing in court, conducting litigation, acting as a notary, administering oaths, and preparing documents for probate or conveyancing. To perform these "reserved activities", a legal provider must be registered with the SRA and we therefore cannot help you if you need advice in any of these areas.
Fortunately, we can help you run your business without touching any "reserved activities". That is why companies like ours have started to grow significantly since 2019, as they can offer a real alternative to regulated law firms operating with significant overheads.

Our Founder David spent more than 6 years working at top US law firms in London like Milbank and Latham & Watkins where he specialised in financial restructuring and M&A.
In 2022 he joined a technology aggregation start-up in Berlin to build their legal function, working on corporate governance, fundraising, M&A as well as more technical areas that growing companies have to address, including: employment law considerations, IP, data privacy and commercial contracts.
Tom worked at the renowned international law firm, Hogan Lovells, for 5 years before becoming Head of Legal at an early stage, VC-backed company.
He has extensive experience advising growth companies on a wide range of matters including fundraisings, commercial contracts and M&A transactions.
